My Medicare Registration
MyMedicare at 188 Medical
As part of the Strengthening Medicare initiative, the government introduced MyMedicare on 1 October 2023 to improve quality, continuity, and coordination of care.
MyMedicare is a voluntary registration program that links you, your GP, and your regular general practice.
Choosing to register or not will not affect your access to care or the quality of medical services you receive at 188 Medical, however registering helps your care team provide more personalised and coordinated healthcare.
Evidence shows strongly that regularly seeing the same GP and practice leads to better health outcomes.
Why register for MyMedicare?

- Provides better access to care plans, health assessments, and follow-up care
- Improves coordination with hospitals and other healthcare providers
You can only register with one practice at a time, but you can change at any time if you wish.
How to Register
You will need a Medicare card or DVA Veteran Card, and you must have had two face-to-face visits at 188 Medical in the past 24 months.
Register Online via MyGov
You can start registration through your Medicare Online Account or the Express Plus Medicare app. Simply select 188 Medical and your preferred GP. Once submitted, our staff will confirm your registration in the MyMedicare system.

If you book appointments through HotDoc, you can now register directly in the HotDoc app or on our 188 Medical HotDoc booking page. The process is quick, secure, and linked to your MyGov account.

You can also register in person during your visit. Our reception staff will assist you with the MyMedicare Registration Form — available at reception or downloadable below. Once signed, our admin team will complete the registration process securely on your behalf.
