Dr Neeliya Kumar

Dr Neeliya Kumar is a compassionate and dedicated General Practitioner with over 20 years of medical experience and a broad range of medical interests, including women’s health, skin, paediatrics, and iron deficiency management. Originally from the picturesque Fiji Islands, Neeliya moved to Australia with her husband to pursue her medical career. She completed her hospital training at the Gold Coast Hospital, gaining valuable experience across departments such as obstetrics, gynaecology, and internal medicine.

Following the birth of her twins, Neeliya transitioned into General Practice—a move she made over 13 years ago and has cherished ever since. She thrives on the continuity of care and the opportunity to build long-term relationships with her patients. She is especially proud to care for up to four generations within some families.

Her clinical passions are diverse, including skin checks and minor procedures, antenatal care, child health, mental health, and iron infusions for patients with iron deficiency. As a true generalist, she values the variety that General Practice offers and is committed to providing holistic, evidence-based care tailored to the unique needs of each individual.

Dr Neeliya now resides in the surrounding area with her husband, a schoolteacher, their lively twins, and their beloved Cavoodle. She enjoys being an active member of her community and is well known for her approachable nature, warm bedside manner, and dedication to improving the health and wellbeing of every patient she sees.
